Construction Slowdown or Housing Downturn?

Is residential construction slowing down or grinding to a halt? How concerned should builders be?

In HomeSphere CEO Glenn Renner’s latest article for Builder and Developer Magazine, the data from our 2,500 residential builders should put your mind at ease: It’s a slowdown, not a downturn.

According to Renner, here’s what the data from our monthly HomeSphere/BTIG builder survey suggests:

“Our mid-year survey (comparing June 2018 sales and traffic to June 2017) indicates that this year’s hot-hot-hot market might be cooling. But with demand outstripping supply, a strong economy and credit still available, we are optimistic that slowing sales are just that – a slowdown, NOT an indicator of a broader downturn in the market.”

For a more in-depth look at the data, be sure to check out Glenn’s article over on Builder and Developer Magazine.

Each month, HomeSphere, in partnership with investment bank BTIG, surveys our builder members about sales, traffic, pricing, labor costs, and other key industry metrics. If you’re a residential builder and would like to participate in the survey, enter your email in the form below.
