December BTIG/HomeSphere Building Industry Report
December 20, 2018
The story from December’s BTIG/HomeSphere Building Industry Report is that entry-level housing is still going strong, but the rest of the market is starting to take a hit. Materials costs are starting to stabilize or come down for most builders.
Highlights from the HomeSphere/BTIG Building Industry Report – December 2018
- 49% of HomeSphere builders reported lower sales per community year-over-year
- The exception to the downward sales trend is entry-level housing: Builders with at least 40% entry level exposure or more accounted for 70% of builders who saw higher-than-expected sales
- 25% of HomeSphere builders reported lower materials costs month-over-month, and an additional 53% of builders reported that costs remained about the same
